【Event Recap】CodeN'Sim Coding and Problem-solving Competition 2023-24

CodeN'Sim Coding and Problem-solving Competition 2023-24 successfully concluded on May 4th and 11th, bringing together over 400 primary school students showcasing their problem-solving skills with joyful laughter. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions that led to rescheduling, it did not stop “the young coders” getting into the competitive spirit. This year, we were delighted to introduce the upper primary division, which attracted numerous schools to participate. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the teams for making this event a resounding success, and to Ko Lui Secondary School for graciously providing the venue and support.

A Fun-learning Coding Competition: The Moment Full of Laughter

Coding is painted with a bright future in the fast-paced world of technology. Here at CodeN'Sim Coding and Problem-solving Competition, we seek not just to celebrate the craft of coding, but also to highlight students' adaptability, creativity, and problem-solving skills. It encouraged students to apply STEAM knowledge to solve on-the-spot challenges, all without the assistance of teachers. They had to work collaboratively with teammates to devise solutions. Trumptech is proud to provide an enjoyable way for students to explore coding and we are delighted to see the enthusiasm and excitement of the students in the competition.

Young-minds showcase Impressive On-the-Spot Problem-Solving Skills

In lower primary division, students have to build a unique robot by using the LEGO Education SPIKE Essential kit. With coding, the robot will push color cubes into specific scoring areas to earn points. This is not only challenging students' coding abilities but also fostering their logical thinking!


The students' creative brilliance was truly showcased through their robot-building.


They worked together harmoniously and divided the tasks clearly during the process, jointly adjusting the cube and modifying the robot.


Upon learning of the cube position revealed on the spot, they immediately adapted the robot's coding strategy and replaced the parts. The efficiency and teamwork were impressive!

 

Challenging Four Scenario Missions in Upper Primary Competition

The upper primary competition poses a greater challenge for students to apply their mathematical knowledge of measurement and angles. Beyond the task of pushing color cubes into the scoring area, it also incorporates three missions related to "Green Living," including wind power generation, cycling, and energy conservation. The teams have to accurately complete all missions to earn points!


Wind Power Generation: The robot has to rotate the blades of the model for a specific number Scores will be awarded based on the position of the indicator.


Cycling Mission: The Robot has to push the "bicycle" model to the designated location.


Energy Conservation: The robot has to change the light bulb model from upward-facing to a downward-facing direction.

 

Mastering Missions Through Trial and Error

Students modified their robot design and created accessories, aiming to successfully complete the missions through trial and error. At the end, The championship team of lower and upper divisions got the best score of 7400 points and 4930 points respectively!
